Description	:	Dayton Review March 22, 1906 HOUDER Chris Houder was born in Canton Bern, Switzerland, January 19, 1857. He came to America with his parents in 1863, settling first in Ohio, and thence to Illinois in February of the following year. On Christmas in 1864, his father died, and Mrs. Houder came with the remainder of her family the next year to this place, settling upon the Houder homestead northwest of town, where they have since lived. He came to America with his parents in 1863, settling first in Ohio, and thence to Illinois in February of the following year. On Christmas in 1864, his father died, and Mrs. Houder came with the remainder of her family the next year to this place, settling upon the Houder homestead northwest of town, where they have since lived. Here Mr. Houder grew to manhood helping care for his mother in her old age. He was married to Rose Flickinger March 14, 1901, and they moved upon the farm he had purchased north of town, where he died March 15, 1906, aged 49 years, 1 month, 26 days. His death was a sad one, resulting from a fall, which we recently chronicled in these columns and from which he never recovered, although he was apparently improving, until Thursday morning, when he suddenly dropped away without warning. Mr. Houder was always a hard worker, energetic in all he undertook, and upright in all his dealings. He was highly respected by all who knew him, and leaves a host of friends to sympathize with the afflicted family in their sorrow. He leaves behind his faithful wife, and aged mother, and a brother and sister to mourn his loss. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from Grace M. E. church, Rev. Muhleman conducting the exercises, and his remains laid to rest in Dayton cemetery. Contributor: abbylynn (47205881)
