Prominent Akron Farmer Succumbs To Heart Attack October 19 The death of Chris Lucht, Sr., at his home northwest of town, in Union County, S.D., late Monday afternoon, October 19, 1942, from a sudden heart attack, was noted in these columns last week. He passed away a few minutes after he was stricken, at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 19 days. Christian Lucht, Sr., was born on March 31, 1878, in Munkeboe, Ostfriesland, Germany, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He came to America in 1911, and on August 28, 1913, he was united in marriage with Miss Swantje Cornelius in New York City. They have since made their home in the Akron community. Mr. Lucht became a member of the Union Creek Lutheran church September 18, 1938. His departure is mourned by his and three children, Elsie, Herman and Chris., Jr., at home; two sisters, Mrs. John Willms, of Akron, Iowa, and Mrs. Eibe Iken, of Lennox, S.D.; also by many other relatives. A man of upright character, industrious, honorable in all his dealings, a kind and devoted husband and father and a good neighbor, he was held in high esteem by a host of friends, who will sincerely miss his genial presence in the daily, walks of life. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon of last week, at 1:30 at the family home and at 2 o'clock at the Union Creek Lutheran church conducted by Student Pastor Leslie Olson. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Lee Stoutenburg and Grant Gassman. Interment was in Union Creek cemetery. (Continued on last page) HOLD BITES FOR CHRIS. LUCHT, SR.
