Death was the result of a heart attack. While he had been ailing for the past two years and undergoing treatment, he had always apparently been a strong and sturdy person and his passing came as a great shock to his family and friens. He became ill last Saturday but recovered and was able to attend church Sunday. Sunday evening, while he and his wife were visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. William Frank, he suffered another attack and after recovering somewhat returned home. Late that evening, however, a physician was called, the next afternoon the doctor called again and while he was there, Mr. Hauux suffered another attack passing away almost at once. Cause of death was given as angina pectoris. Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon from the home at 1:30 p.m., and the Lutheran church in Java at 2 p.m., with the Reverend George Kirchdoerfer officiating. Special music will be rendered by the choir. Interment will follow in the Lutheran cemetery. Christ M Haux was born December 11, 1888, in Koscharka, South Russia, the youngest son of George Haux and his wife, Elizabeth nee Merkel. He was baptised on December 29 of the same year. He came with his parents to this country in 1899, settling on a farm, two miles northwest of Java. he was confirmed in Java on March 23, 1902, and on December 29, 1912, he was united in marriage with Katherine Krause and this union was blessed with six children, one son prededing him in death. The couple made their home on a farm, two miles northwest of Java, where they still reside. Mr. Haux passed away at 2:45 p.m., Monday, June 29, at the age of 53 years, six months and 18 days. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church here and was serving as Deacon at the time of his passing. He was also widely known in the county having served as assessor in the rural districts, and would have been a candidate for county assessor in the election this fall. He is survived by his widow, Katie Haux; three sons, Robert,who is principal of the Trail City Schools, Herman, residing on a farm eight miles northwest of Java, and Herbert at home; two daughters, Evelyn, a student nurse at St. Luke's hospital at Aberdeen; and Bertha, 12, at home; one brother, Jacob Haux Sr., residing a mile and one half northwest of Java; two sisters, Katherine (Gottlieb) Baumesberger and Karoline (Ferdinand) Beitelspacher, both living near Lowry.
