Description	:	Christian Wohlfeil was born in Prussia on September 23, 1815. His early life is undocumented but it was probably military. In about 1852 though, at the age of 37, Lieutenant Christian Wohlfeil married Augustine Wilhelmene (Haltzhüter) Sievert. It is believed to have been his first marriage, but her second, being recently widowed with three children. They would soon produce three additional offspring, farming (probably tenant farming) in the Prussian province of Pommern (east of Berlin). Read More	Christian Wohlfeil was born in Prussia on September 23, 1815. His early life is undocumented but it was probably military. In about 1852 though, at the age of 37, Lieutenant Christian Wohlfeil married Augustine Wilhelmene (Haltzhüter) Sievert. It is believed to have been his first marriage, but her second, being recently widowed with three children. They would soon produce three additional offspring, farming (probably tenant farming) in the Prussian province of Pommern (east of Berlin). Shortly after the birth of their youngest child, Emelia (“Millie”), Christian and Augustine would yearn for better opportunities for their family, and leave Prussia. America was calling. They embarked on the immigrant ship "Sir Robert Peel" in late March of 1860, arriving in New York City on the 12th of May. Their early years in America were spent on farmland in Effingham County in Central Illinois. They were to remain there for some 20 years. In about 1882 Christian and Augustine would leave Illinois and journey west to Hollis in Cloud County, Kansas. Two of their childern, son Fredrick and daughter Wilhelmina "Minnie" Krohn, had moved there with their familys more than a year before, and most of Christian and Wilhelmene's other children would follow. The Wohldeil / Sewart family was always close, and it was in Cloud County that Christian would spend his remaining days living near his children. Christian died on April 21, 1884 and is buried next to Augustine in Hollis Cemetery in Cloud County.
