Description	:	Augustine Wilhelmene (Holzhüter) Sewart Wohlfeil was born in Suckow, Pommern, Prussia (modern day West Pomeranian, Poland) on May 25, 1821. We know that her maiden name was “Holzhüter” from baptismal records of three of her children. German records also point to her father's name as "Christian", but that is all that we know of her family. Her first marriage was to August Ferdinand Sievert, a joiner (wood craftsman) from the nearby village of Collin, in about 1841. We know that her maiden name was “Holzhüter” from baptismal records of three of her children. German records also point to her father's name as "Christian", but that is all that we know of her family. Her first marriage was to August Ferdinand Sievert, a joiner (wood craftsman) from the nearby village of Collin, in about 1841. This marriage would produce four children, August Fredrick Ferdinand (who died in infancy), Edward Hermann, Fredrick Ferdinand and Wilhelmina ("Minnie"). Ferdinand died in the summer of 1846, at the early age of 30, leaving Augustine with child. Her daughter Minnie would be born seven months later. Augustine would marry again in 1850, to Lieutenant Christian Wohlfeil. This is believed to have been Christian's first marriage. That union would last for the rest of their lives and produce three additional offspring, Frederika, Ernestina ("Lina") and Amilia ("Emily or Millie"). Shortly after the birth of their youngest child, Amelia, Christian and Augustine would leave Prussia, journeying to America. They left Repplin, Pommern, Prussia, embarking in Hamburg on the immigrant ship "Sir Robert Peel" in late March of 1860. Arrival in New York City was on the 12th of May. Their early years in America were spent on farmland in Effingham County in Central Illinois. The family would remain there for some 20 years. In about 1882 Christian and Augustine would leave Illinois and journey west to Hollis in Cloud County, Kansas. Both their son Fredrick and their daughter "Minnie" Krohn had settled with their familys there prior, and most of Christian and Augustine's other children would soon follow. It was in Cloud County that Augustina and Christian would spend their remaining days. The Wohlfeil / Sewart family was a close-knit group in Illinois and remained so in Kansas. Christian died on April 21, 1884. Augustine would out-live him by an additional nine years. Augustine died on October 22, 1893 in Cloud County and is buried next to Christian in Hollis Cemetery.
