Description	:	Annie (Coyne) Cole was the daughter of John and Rose Anne (Carr) Coyne. She was baptized 'Christie Anne' Coyne on November 28, 1875 at Notre Dame du Rosaire (Our Lady of The Rosary) church in Crysler, Ontario, Canada. Annie spent her earliest childhood days on her parents farm, midway between Crysler and Chesterville, Ontario, Canada. Annie spent her earliest childhood days on her parents farm, midway between Crysler and Chesterville, Ontario, Canada. She emigrated to Iowa with her parents and four of her older siblings about 1883 (accounts vary). Following her father's death, by 1885 Annie resided in Little Sioux township, Woodbury County IA with her mother Rose and two brothers, Thomas and Sylvester, who assumed farm responsibilites. In 1901, Annie married James Albert "Al" Cole at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon IA. They made their home on a farm in Grant township, six miles southwest of Anthon. After twelve years of marriage, Annie and Al were blessed with four sons (memorials linked below). Her husband Al passed away in 1937. Five of Annie's brothers and sisters in the Anthon area passed away the following two years. In July of 1940, Annie began a memorable 4,000-mile month-long road trip to Canada. She treasured the visit to her only surviving sibling, Bridget (Coyne) Mulloy near Inkerman, Ontario, Canada. The sisters had not seen one another in 24 years. Annie spent her later years residing with her sons' families. She passed away in 1955. *** OBITUARY: The Anthon Herald, published Anthon, Woodbury County, Iowa, 1 June 1955, page 1: "Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. this morning at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon for Mrs. Annie Cole, 79. Mrs. Cole died Sunday evening at the home of her son Bernard in Kingsley. She had just come home from St. Joseph's Hospital in Sioux City where she had been a patient. Father A. Conlon conducted the service this morning and burial was in Mt. St. Joseph's Cemetery under direction of Hudgel Funeral Home of Anthon. Pallbearers were Dan Curtin, Neil Coyne, Raephel Curtin, Tom Coyne, Hugh Coyne and Ray Williams, all nephews of Mrs. Cole. Mrs. Cole was born November 1, 1875, at Crysler, Ontario, Canada, and came to the United States and Iowa with her parents in 1883. She was married to J.A. Cole February 12, 1901, in Anthon and resided in this vicinity until Mr. Cole's death in 1937. She ws a member of Catholic Daughters of America and St. Michael's Missionary Society at Kingsley. Surviving are four sons, Bernard and John of Kingsley, Leo of Anthon and Raphael of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and twelve grandchildren." ***
