Mrs. Oregon became ill in October 1937 and returned to her home on Thanksgiving Day having been treated for heart trouble three weeks in St. Joseph's hospital. She was much improved upon her return from the hospital for a time, but then her old trouble returned and she was bedfast much of the time since except about a month. Relatives and neighbors did all they could to help care for her, and Mrs. Anna Cole, Mrs. Ellis Oregon and Mrs. Ray Williams in particular were with her most of the time during her long illness. Mrs. Oregon received the best of loving care, but she gradually grew weaker and she answered the summons to eternity at 2:45 p.m. Thursday. Rose Coyne, daughter of John and Rose Ann Coyne, was born October 2, 1867, at Inkerman, Canada. She lived in Canada until 1882 when she came with her parents, brothers and sisters to Dunlap, Iowa. The Coyne family resided there a year and then came to Woodbury county, where practically all of the remainder of the deceased's life was spent with the exception of a few years in Monona County. In 1889 she married W.W. Williams and this union was blessed with one son, Ray, who survives his mother. Part of their married life was spent at Mapleton, Onawa and Climbing Hill. Following the death of her husband, she lived for a time at Salix and Oto before she was married at Anthon April 4, 1904 to Guy Oregon. After farming in the Oto vicinity about eighteen years, they purchased the George Strackbein residence in Anthon in 1922 and the remainder of her life was spent here. Survivors include her widower, Guy Oregon; one son, Ray Williams of Oto; two stepsons, Phil Oregon of Oto and Ellis Oregon of Smithland; four grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren; two brothers, Sylvester Coyne of Anthon and Thomas Coyne of Salix; four sisters, Mrs. Catherine Curtin (twin sister of deceased) and Mrs. Margaret Farmer of Anthon; Mrs. Anna Cole of Oto; and Mrs. Bridget Malloy of Canada, a number of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and a legion of friends. Funeral services were conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Rev. D.K. Hurley officiating, assisted by Rev. Illg of Oto. Pallbearers were six nephews: Tom Coyne, Hugh Coyne, Tom Farmer, Leo Cole, Dan Curtin and Jeff Curtin, and interment was in Mt. St. Joseph's cemetery under direction of Hudgel's Funeral Service.
