Description	:	Rose Anne (Carr) Coyne was born in County Cavan Ireland about 1827-1829. She was baptized March 28, 1829 per RC Diocese of Kilmore records for parish Urney. Her parents were Sylvester Kerr/Carr and Anne Castles/Cassels who married in 1823 and were the parents of at least eight children. Rose emigrated with her parents from Ireland about 1841 and in 1850 resided Madrid township, Saint Lawrence County NY. John was born c.1805 in County Mayo, Ireland, probably near Newport. Following their marriage, Rose and John spent a few years in New York state, and by 1861 resided near Chesterville, Ontario, Canada where John had many relatives. John farmed midway between Crysler and Chesterville in Finch township, Stormont County: 50 acres (7th Concession, Lot 1), next to his brother Michael "Mickey" Patrick Coyne and near William McGloyne, married to their sister Mary Honora Coyne. Rose and John were the parents of eight children who reached adulthood. They emigrated from Canada to Iowa about 1883 (accounts vary), as did five of their children about the same time. John passed away about a year later. Rose reached the age of 88 and died in 1915. ----------- OBITUARY: The Anthon Herald July 19, 1915, published Anthon, Woodbury County, Iowa "DEATH OF MRS. COYNE: Mrs. Rose Coyne died at the home of her daughter, Mrs J.A. Cole, in Grant township at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon after an illness extending back more than two years. She was 88 years of age and had been a resident of this county for more than thirty years. The funeral was held this Wednesday forenoon at St. Joseph's church, conducted by Rev. Father Cooke and interment was made in Mt. St. Joseph's cemetery. Rose Carr was born in County Cavin, Ireland, in 1827 and when 12 years of age came with her parents to New York, later moving to near Montreal, Canada, where she was married to John Coyne. In 1883 they emigrated to Shelby county, Iowa and a year later came to this county. Soon after their arrival here her husband passed away, since which time she had made her home with her children. She leaves to mourn eight children. They are Mary Ann and Mrs. Mallory, of Ontario, Canada, Mrs. Maggie Farmer of Anthon, Thos Coyne, south of Oto, Mrs. Jeff Curtin, Mrs. Guy Oregon, Sil Coyne, and Mrs. J.A. Cole, all of this part of the county. Two children died in infancy and are buried in Canada. Mrs. Coyne was an excellent mother, wife, and neighbor and left the world better for her having been a part of it." -----------
