She was the last of her generation, having survived all her brothers and sisters. The funeral sermon was by the Rev. D. Clarence Davis, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Clarinda. The singing was by Mrs. Elizabeth Christine, accompanied by Mrs. Eva Eno and in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Edna Davie, Mrs. Ruth Hentsch, Mrs. Nellie Mains, and Miss Lila Gardner. Pall bearers were Henry Tyler, Martin Hentsch, Sterling Mains, R. G. Muckery, Carl R. Stinson, and Dr. H. A. McIntosh and interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Tena Jane Stillians was born February 15, 1865, near Brodhead, Wisconsin, the fifth child of Malachi and Elizabeth Hooker Straw. When 7 years old, she with her family moved in a covered wagon to a farm just east of Essex, Iowa, and there she grew to womanhood. She attended old Amity College in College Springs and taught in the rural schools near the home. On June 25, 1885, she was married to William Alvin Stillians. Their first home was in Clarinda where Mr. Stillians was employed as a druggist. To them were born five children, Daisy Mildred, who died in infancy, Bruce, who died in 1934, Dean who died in 1901, Dan who resides in Clarinda, and Marjorie, who made her home with her mother. Mrs. Stillians is survived also by four grandchildren, all of whom are the children of her son, Bruce. They are Mrs. Janice Karson, of Rochester, Minnesota, Mrs. Jeanne Gann, Signorney, Miss Betty Stillians, New York City, and Bruce, Iowa City. Mrs. Mima Criswell of Oakland, Iowa, a niece, who also lived in the Stillians home. Mrs. Stillians was a 53 year member of the Eastern Star, a long time member of the Presbyterian Church, and worked in the building of the present church of Villisca. She, in her active years, was interested in many civic affairs. She and her husband built a home in Villisca and she lived there 62 years.
