Stratford Courier January 27, 1921 OBITUARY Passing of Mrs. C. Bloomberg Christine Bloomberg was born the 9th day of October in the year 1849 in Ovanåker socken, Sweden. At the age of 19 she was united in marriage to L.E. Bloomberg, who in 1902 preceded her in death. To this union were born two children, one son and one daughter. The boy died in early childhood and the daughter very well known as Mrs. Ida Hengy, also preceded her in 1914. In the year of 1863 she came with her husband to this country and settled for some time at Bishop Hill, Illinois, after which she came to Stratford, where she resided until January 6th, 1915, when she was admitted to the Swedish Old People's Home of Boone, where she made her home up to her death. About a week before her departure she took very sick suddenly, which proved to be serious and finally ended her earthly career. On Thursday morning, January 13th, her spirit said farewell to suffering and pain to be with the Lord forever. She was at her death 71 years, 3 months and 4 days old. In the year of 1904 she became a Christian by accepting Jesus Christ as her personal savior. While residing in Stratford she was a member of the Lutheran church but after coming to Boone joined the Swedish Evangelical Mission Church. She leaves to feel the loss and mourn her departure, one sister, Mrs. Brita Gustafson of Conrad, one brother in Sweden, two nephews, P.E. Carlson of Fort Dodge, C.G. Carlson of Webster City, one niece, Miss Grace Gustafson of Conrad, and a host of friends. Peace be over her memory. Brief funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 15th, at the Swedish Old People's Home, following which the funeral party drove to Stratford, the old home, where the regular service was held from the Swedish Baptist church with Rev. Axel Ohlson of this city in charge, assisted by Ernest Carlson of Boone and Rev. Bengtson of Stratford. Music was furnished by a Stratford quartette. Interment was at Hook's Point cemetery near Stratford. - Boone Democrat.
