She received her education in the rural schools near her home and as a young girl worked for neighboring people in the area. Read More	From contributor: Andrea (#47110799) Christine Ann Sassman was born July 24, 1914 at Dixon, SD to John and Frances (Koler) Preslicka and died June 17, 1992 in the Lake Andes, SD at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 23 days. She received her education in the rural schools near her home and as a young girl worked for neighboring people in the area. Christine was united in marriage to Dale John Sassman October 7, 1936 in Winner, SD and to this union six children were born. They ranched in the Winner area and moved to Murdo, in 1950. They moved to Armour, SD in 1962, the to Mobridge, then onto Bison before returning to Murdo in 1978. Due to illness, Christine went to a nursing home in Sturgis, SD and then to one in Rapid City. In July of 1990, she moved to the Lake Andes Health Care Center in Lake Andes, SD. Christine was a member of Jevovah's Witnesses for the last 25 years. She was a terrific cook loved to crochet, and to do gardening. She liked to travel and got the chance to do some in her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one sister, one grandchild, and one great grandchild. Christine is survived by her husband, Dale; three sons, Dale Jr., of Rapid City, Robert of Rock Springs, Wyoming, and Ronald of Lusk, Wyoming; three daughters, Benita Varilek of Geddes, SD, Twila Dibbler of Raytown, Missouri, and Cheryl Maki of Tucson, Arizona; 20 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Berens of Dixon, SD; Tillie Whetham of Greeley, CO; and Emma Whetham of Paulsbo, Washington; one sister-in-law, Bertha Preslicka of Burke, SD and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held for Christine on Monday, June 22, 1992 at 1 pm at the Clausen Chapel in Burke with Steve Miles officiating. Solos were sung by Carol Read, with Merrill Womach as organist.
