She was buried Wednesday in the Bridgeport cemetery following services at the Bridgeport Masonic Temple. The Rev. Maurice Jones officiated, with Puritan Chapter 144 Order of the Eastern Star, participating. Mrs. Wright's newspaper work and her one-time management of silent movie theaters in Bridgeport, Mansfield and Brewster made her an authority on the area's history. She was born Feb. 27, 1878, in Missouri. She completed regular schooling and graduated from the Warrensburg, Missouri School of Music and the St. Cecilia Seminary, Missouri. She played the piano, mandolin and guitar at concerts. Mrs. Wright came west in 1906 with a girl friend to visit friends in Bridgeport. She arrived on one of the old riverboats and so liked the region she returned shortly after a tour with a music company. She filed on a piece of land and lived alone for 18 months until she married James William Wright, Mansfield lumberman who died in 1931. The couple had no children. In Mansfield she published the News, a newspaper cited by the state press association for outstanding new content. She returned to Bridgeport after a disastrous crop failure collapsed the Mansfield economy. In Bridgeport she ran the telephone exchanger for 10 years before selling and then managing it for another 10 years. She then retired. Mrs. Wright was always active in the community. She worked for the County Advisory Board, Red Cross, Selective Service, USO and was city treasurer in Bridgeport. She was a Past Matron and held a life membership in Puritan Chapter 144 and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Warrensburg, Missouri, for more than 50 years. Mrs. Wright is survived by a half-sister, Mrs. Ruth Wood of Wenatchee, and a half-brother, Paul Chester, and many nephews and nieces.
