Description	:	MRS. WINFIELD WELCH Clara Josephine Clark Welch was born Nov. 27, 1875 at Mauston, Wis., the oldest child of Ansil and Catherine Clark. She spent her early life there, where she attended public school and afterward came with her parents to South Dakota. She was married to Winfield Welch Dec. 18, 1890, at Aberdeen. To this union were born seven children, Albert, Ella, Esther, Pearl, Arthur, Laura and Inez. WINFIELD WELCH Clara Josephine Clark Welch was born Nov. 27, 1875 at Mauston, Wis., the oldest child of Ansil and Catherine Clark. She spent her early life there, where she attended public school and afterward came with her parents to South Dakota. She was married to Winfield Welch Dec. 18, 1890, at Aberdeen. To this union were born seven children, Albert, Ella, Esther, Pearl, Arthur, Laura and Inez. They lived for a while in Codington County and then took a homestead 11 miles southwest of Peever where she spent most of her years. In 1941 Mr. and Mrs. Welch moved to Peever where she lived until the time of her death at home on Monday evening, Jan. 16, 1950. She was 74 years, 1 month and 20 days old. She was a faithful member of the Peever Methodist Church and president of the Berean Society for three years. She was a good Christian and always active in Christian work. She was preceded in death by one son, Arthur, her parents and one brother. She was a kind and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed. She leaves to mourn her passing besides her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Emil Egaard and Mrs. Elmo Ward, both of Chicago, Ill.; five daughters and one son, namely: Albert of Peever, Ella (Mrs. Eppah Robbins) of Peever, Esther (Mrs. Wilson Wren) of Symerton, Ill., Pearl (Mrs. Fred Burrows) of Arlington, Wash.; Laura (Mrs. Pierce Owens) of Peever and Inez (Mrs. Kenneth Niles) of Peever; 27 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Peever Methodist Church at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon, with interment in the Peever Cemetery. The pallbearers were Herman Hove, Harry Lake, Rudolph Horstman, Clarence Hunter, John Wren and Oscar Sundheim. Out of town people attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Wren of Symerton, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wren of Wilmington, Ill.; Mr. And Mrs. Guy Wren and sons of Symerton, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Mills and daughters of Kankakee, Ill.; Mrs. Clara Welch, Mr. and Mrs. Eppa Thomas, Mrs. Bernard Buckley, Mrs. Martin Olson and Mr. and Mrs. C. Howey and son Ross, all of Watertown; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Jacobson and Mrs. Anna Swayze of Wilmot.
