Description	:	Clara Mae “Tally” (Porter) Davis, age 92, formerly of Medley, WV passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas, WV. She was born January 26, 1923 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Harry and Carrie (Hutton) Porter. On February 28, 1942, she married Earl E. Davis who preceded her in death on January 28, 1979. Read More	Clara Mae “Tally” (Porter) Davis, age 92, formerly of Medley, WV passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas, WV. She was born January 26, 1923 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Harry and Carrie (Hutton) Porter. On February 28, 1942, she married Earl E. Davis who preceded her in death on January 28, 1979. Also proceeding her in death were a daughter, Peggy (Davis) Judy; a son-in-law, Donis Judy, five sisters, Dorothy Coleman, Anna Virginia Dettinburn, Elizabeth "Libby" Lehman, Lenora Porter, and infant Betty Lee Porter; four brothers, Marshall, Woodrow, Neil, and Harry Porter, Jr. Mrs. Davis retired as a cook at the Forman Elementary School and at the Petersburg High School. She baked wedding and special occasion cakes for many years before and after her retirement. She was an active member of her community always there for neighbors, friends and family. She had many special interests, two of which were flower gardening and holidays. At Christmas, her home was always decorated beautifully. She loved baking and cooking and when visiting her, you would always be treated with her latest creations of deserts. One of her passions was travelling, especially to other world countries. She traveled to Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Honduras and many states in the United States. One of the favorite places she visited was the Lauterbrunnen Valley in Switzerland. She said Switzerland reminded her of her beloved West Virginia. She was an active member of the Lahmansville United Methodist Church and the church Ladies Aide Society. She was an active member of the Patterson Creek Ruritan. She was also a member of the Petersburg Chapter 146 Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Edwina "Rennie" M. (Davis) McIntire and Gary McIntire of Upper Strasburg, Pennsylvania and one son and daughter-in-law, George Davis and Kathryn (Bobo) Davis of Alexandria, VA. Five grandchildren: Christina McIntire of Greencastle, PA, Timothy McIntire of Lake Arthur, LA, Pamela Stouffer of Lake Arthur, LA, Susan Judy of Chambersburg, PA, and Mary Mae Davis-Wilson of Moorefield, WV. Two step-grandchildren: Robert Porter of Davis, WV and Delphia Shrader of Belington, WV. She is survived by twelve great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Delores "Tinkle" (Porter) Secrist and Dale Emanuel Secrist of Lahmansville, WV. Family will receive friends Monday 7 – 9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Lahmansville United Methodist Church with Rev. Roger and Ann Harrison officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the Lahmansville Cemetery.
