December 31, 1962 - Carroll Daily Times Herald - Mrs. Clara Schirck, 83, lifelong resident of Carroll County, died about 8:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at St. Anthony Hospital, where she had been seriously ill for three weeks. She had been in failing health for the last six months. Solemn requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Francis J. Nemmers at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at St. Joseph Church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Tuesday. Members of the Altar Society of the Holy Family Church Lidderdale_ will recite the rosary in a group at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The rosary will also be recited at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. On Wednesday, the rosary will be recited at 3 p.m.; at 8 p.m. by Immaculata Guild of St. Joseph Church; and at 8:30. Mrs. Schirck was born March 30, 1879, in Sheridan Township, a daughter of Aloys and Louise Yender. She married Victor E. Schirck on Feb. 24, 1902, at SS. Peter and Paul Church in Carroll, with the late Rev. Father Nacke officiating. Immediately following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Schirck moved to a farm southwest of Halbur. In 1908 they moved to the farm four miles north and one-half mile east of Carroll. Mr. Schirck died Nov. 2, 1950, and Mrs. Schirck continued to make her home on the same farm. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Carroll, and the Immaculata Guild of the parish. Surviving are three sons, Leonard and Joseph Schirck, Carroll, and Victor Schirck, Colo; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Yender and Mrs. Rose Krueger, Carroll. Besides her husband, Mrs. Schirck was preceded in death by one son, Harold; one daughter, Mrs. Louis Reiff, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
