WELL-KNOWN AKRON MAN DIES FRIDAY OF HEART ATTACK Last Rites Are Held Monday Afternoon For Clare Morehead Clare Morehead, a widely-known resident of Akron, passed away a; his home here Friday forenoon, October 12, 1956, after a brief illness, aged 51 years, 2 months and 12 days. Mr. Morehead became ill after reporting for work that morning for the Higman Gravel Co. of town. After returning to his home for a while, he wentback to work, but was unable to remain and suffered a fatal attack in His home. Clare Morehead son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Morehead, was born July 31, 1905, in Plymouth county, and had lived in Akron and vicinity all his life. On September 6, 1920, he was united in marriage with Miss Christina Miller. For a number of years he farmed east of Akron and later moved to town and went into business. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church. A kind and devoted husband and father; of friendly and cheerful nature, he will be missed by many friends and relatives. Left to mourn his departure are his wife, Christina; two sons, Norman and Virgil, both of Sioux City; a daughter, Janice, at home; two brothers, Strachey, of Akron, and Charles, of San Diego, Calif.; six sisters, Mrs. Joy McCorkell, of Ontario, Calif.; Mrs. Hope Lucken and Mrs. Alma Port, both of Akron; Mrs. Ala Korthals, Mrs. Madge Kellogg and Mrs. Dorothy Miller, all of San Diego, Calif., and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Guy, and a sister Mrs. Lou Port. The surviving relatives have the sympathy of the community in their sudden bereavement. There was a large attendance at the funeral services held Monday, afternoon in Immanuel Lutheran church. Rev. David J. Roy officiated. A mixed quartets, comprised of Mrs. Milton Anderson, Mrs. Kenneth Peters, Ardon and Clifford Johnson, sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less." Mrs. Alvin Frisk was accompanist. Casket bearers were Daryl Port, Merlin Johnson, James Morehead, Darwin Johnson, Glen Milbrodt and Kenneth Port, nephews of the deceased. Interment was in Riverside cemetery. Mrs. M. Korthals, of Sioux Falls, and the-following relatives, of California, came to attend the funeral: Mrs. Joy McCorkell, Mrs. Alta Korthals, Mrs. Madge Kellogg and Charles Morehead.
