[Estimated Age at Death: 82 years, 6 days] ~★~ Veteran U.S. Army WWII ~★~ Clarence Donald Hamilton, Sr., 82, of Pittsburg died at 6:11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center at Pittsburg. Mr. Hamilton was born May 24, 1926 at Mulberry the son of Walter B. and Goldie E. Spoonhour Hamilton. Don was a retired conductor for the Kansas City Southern Railroad and also was a decorator. He was raised in Mulberry and graduated from Mulberry High School in 1944. He lived in the Pittsburg area most of his life. Don married Norma June Radford on December 27, 1944 at Girard. Mrs. Hamilton preceded him in death November 7, 2006. Don was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. During his military service he received the American Theatre Ribbon, Eamet Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Ribbon. Don also received the most prestigious award any soldier can earn, the Purple Heart. Mr. Hamilton was a member of the Independent Bible Baptist Church in Pittsburg and the Golden Rails. Survivors include two sons, Carl Hamilton and his wife, Cathy of Pittsburg and Richard Hamilton and his wife, Christina of Weir, three brothers, Raymond Hamilton of Sumpter, South Carolina, Glenn Hamilton of Pittsburg, and Marion "Pete" Hamilton of Malakoff, Texas, four sisters, Evelyn Stevens of Tybee Island, Georgia, Merdith Becker of Pittsburg, Ulela Baker of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Leona Teague of Hutchinson, Kansas, eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Clarence Donald Hamilton Jr., one brother, Walter Hamilton, and one sister, Alice Hamilton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma with the Rev. Jim Fryer and the Rev. Howard Curry officiating. Kristyn Shultz will give a eulogy. Burial will be at the Rosebank Cemetery at Mulberry. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Bedene Chapel at Arma where friends may call after 11 a.m. Sunday. The family will be at the home of Glenn Hamilton, 306 Webster, Pittsburg. The family suggests memorials to Angels Among Us. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E.
