Description	:	Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Emerson, Sunday at 2:30 p.m. for Clarence Whitney was Rev. C. H. Boos, pastor of the church in charge. Pallbearers were J. A. Huntsman, Ray Huntsman, Homer Connell, and Edd Farris. Two solos were sung by R. R. Honeyman, accompanied by Mrs. Honeyman. Masonic rites were conducted by Frank Oglevie. Clarence Emmett Whitney, son of Emmett and Margaret Whitney was born in Emerson, August 16, 1891, and passed away, December 4, 1947 at the Edmundson Hospital, Council Bluffs, Pottawatomie County, Iowa, at the age of 56 years, 3 months, and 18 days. He was united in marriage to Mabel Hossle, August 14, 1913. to this union was born one daughter, Ruth. He lived in Kaycee and Midwest, Wyoming from 1916 to 1928, where he worked for the Standard Oil Company in field work. He moved to Omaha in 1943, living there until April 1946, then returning to his home in Emerson. Mr. Whitney was engaged in plumbing and heating work all of his life time. He was in poor health for several years, his last illness lasting about four weeks. He was active in Masonic work until his health failed. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and one sister, Bernice Bowman. He is survived by his wife, and daughter, two nieces, Margaret Booten of Omaha, and Clarice Moore of San Francisco, California. The body was removed to the Comer Funeral Home where it lay in state until the hour of the service. Among those from out of town attending the service were Margaret Booten, Bonda Lee, and Ona Lee, Mrs. Ruth Corey, and Mr. and Mrs. Lysle Brown, and Lysle Jr., all of Omaha.
