Description	:	LIVED IN EMERSON FORTY-TWO YEARS E. F. Whitney, one of our old time residents, passed away at his home about five o'clock, Wednesday morning, at his home. Mr. Whitney had not been feeling well for some time lately, but no one thought the end was nears. He did some work Saturday, was up and around Sunday, but was stricken with paralysis in the night and became unconscious remaining in that condition until the end. Emmett F. Whitney, one of our old time residents, passed away at his home about five o'clock, Wednesday morning, at his home. Mr. Whitney had not been feeling well for some time lately, but no one thought the end was nears. He did some work Saturday, was up and around Sunday, but was stricken with paralysis in the night and became unconscious remaining in that condition until the end. Emmett F. Whitney was born at Munice, Indiana August 8, 1857 and died in Emerson, Iowa, September 19, 1928. He was married at Centerville, Iowa in 1884 to Miss Margaret Lawton. Two years were spent in Red Oak, Iowa, and then they moved to Emerson, where they lived for forty-two years. Mr. Whitney was engaged in the pump and windmill business and lived a busy life. Four children were born to this union. Two passed away in infancy. The two living children are Clarence of Midwest, Wyoming and Mrs. Bernice Bowman of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Two brothers, Harry and Edd, three grandchildren and one great grandchild, also survive him. When a young man, Mr. Whitney joined the Baptist Church at Galesburg, Illinois, and he united with the Emerson Baptist Church in 1899. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. G. Barnett. Music was rendered by Mesdames Mrs. Ira N. Cheney, Mrs. Ivan Salmons, and Charles Griffin with Mrs. H. E. Greenwood at the piano. The pall bearers were Chas. Larkin, C. D. Greenwood, Charles Lang, Dave Morgan, Albert Buebler, and Arthur Cole.
