He also worked for Kansas Department of Transportation in Atchison County from March 1, 1964, until he retired Nov. 1, 1975. He was born Oct. 7, 1910, at Monrovia in Atchison county, the son of Arthur and Mary Alice Stollsworth Christie. Mr. Christie was a member of Muscotah Lodge No. 116, AF &AM. He and his wife, Mrs. Wilda "Elsie" Christie were married Jan. 12, 1938 at Monrovia. She died April, 11, 1949. A son, Loren Dale Christie, Died in infancy. Survivors incliude a son, Floyd R. "Bob" Christie, Effingham: two sisters, Mrs. Siney Robbins, Anaheim, Calif., and Mrs. Beulah Schier, Hoyt; two brothers, Bub Christie, Nortonville and Bell Christie, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; and two grandsons. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at O'Trimble Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Old Huron cemetery near Huron. This visit was made last Friday, and the home of Mr. Christie was found to be an ideal farm home. The family besides the parents, consists of six intelligent, polite, bright children, from two to fourteen years of age. Two boys and four girls. At noon the dinner table was loaden with hot biscuits, coffee, fried chicken, and gravy, Irish and sweet potatoes, honey, butter, vegetables and jellies too numerous to mention. It was a feast long to be remembered by a hungry town man. The premises for a stock farm are, by nature fine: hills, wind-breaks, running and swimming water, grassy and shady pastures; and the stock and fowls are there; horses, cattle, sheep, hogs, goats, geese, ducks, chickens, guinea hens and bees. No dogs. Master Clarence Christie, showed me around and said to me, wouldn't you like to live in the country? I said yes, I'll give you my town home for your farm home and all that is on it.
