Description	:	Clarence Palu, 91, passed away June 14, 2015, at Great Plains Health, where he had been dealing with health problems since late April. Clarence Palu was born on April 15, 1924, in Loup City. He was the fifth of six children born to John and Bridget Kosmicki Palu. Clarence attended school in Loup City until the eighth grade, when the family moved to a farm northwest of Grant. Read More	Clarence Palu, 91, passed away June 14, 2015, at Great Plains Health, where he had been dealing with health problems since late April. Clarence Palu was born on April 15, 1924, in Loup City. He was the fifth of six children born to John and Bridget Kosmicki Palu. Clarence attended school in Loup City until the eighth grade, when the family moved to a farm northwest of Grant. He attended high school in Grant and graduated from Perkins County High School in 1941. Clarence was married to June Benson on Nov. 12, 1942, in Scottsbluff. Clarence was inducted into the United States Army in May 1943 during World War II. He served in the Army Cavalry and was an excellent rifleman. He was stationed in New Guinea in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of War. After his discharge in September 1944, Clarence and June moved to a farm south of Brule. In 1949, the family moved to the Palu farm northeast of Madrid, where Clarence lived for the next 66 years. June died in 1995. Clarence had been a longtime member of the Madrid American Legion and the Grant Catholic Church. In addition to his parents and wife, Clarence was preceded in death by his four sisters, Cashmere Westerbuhr, Eleanor Jackson, Clementine Thompson and Regina Spahn. He is survived by four sons, Gary (Lynette), of North Platte, Bill, of Keystone, Bruce (Pat), of North Platte, and Paul, of rural Madrid; three daughters, Karen (Don) Brogan-Chandler, of Keystone, Linda (Dana) Cornelius, of rural Madrid, and Jo Ellen Palu, of Drake, Colorado; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; his brother, Ivan Palu, of Grant; and other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Grant Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church with Father Bernard Lorenz officiating. Burial will be at the Grant Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Grant Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Bullock-Long Funeral Home, Grant, is in charge of arrangements.
