Clarence M. Hansen, well-known Beresford resident, died last Thursday afternoon, July 3, as the result of a gravel truck spill about 3:30 o'clock. His companion, Phillip Allison Jr., of. Alcester suffered severe injuries including a severed artery in his head. Mr. Hansen's head was crushed and he died instantly. Allison was driving as the truck left the road on a slight curve about a mile and one-hilf east of Alcester. The vehicle tipped and skidded along about 50 feet. The men were employed on a WPA project. Clarence Melvin Hansen was born September 12, 1904, being 36 years, 9 months, and 21 days of age at the time of his death. He lived on a farm near Alsen until he was about 18 years old. July 1, 1923, he was baptized and confirmed in the Dalesburg Lutheran church. His marriage to Louise Braasted took place June 17, 1925. Surviving are the widow; six children, Doris Mae, Ladonna Rae, Leon Ellsworth, Elroy Leonard, Janet Marie, and Clarice Dianne; his mother, Pauline Overby, two brothers, Harold and Leonard and two sisters, Mrs. George Martinsen and Mrs. Milton Johnson and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Mon day at 1:30 In the Wass funeral chapel and at 2:00 in the Danish church with Rev. A. V. Neve officiating. July 10, 1941 , Beresford, Republic -------------------------
