Description	:	The death of Clarence Hauskey occurred at the hospital in Huron on Sunday, December 25, 1921, at 5 p.m., aged 23 years, 5 months and 5 days. He was taken sick the latter part of November, while engaged at his work as assistant cashier of the Esmond State Bank. The trouble appearing to be appendicitis, he was taken to the Huron hospital by his brother, Helmer of Carthage, and underwent an operation on Dec 3rd. Read More	The death of Clarence Hauskey occurred at the hospital in Huron on Sunday, December 25, 1921, at 5 p.m., aged 23 years, 5 months and 5 days. He was taken sick the latter part of November, while engaged at his work as assistant cashier of the Esmond State Bank. The trouble appearing to be appendicitis, he was taken to the Huron hospital by his brother, Helmer of Carthage, and underwent an operation on Dec 3rd. It seemed to be successful and for a couple of days Clarence's condition was favorable, when other complications set in which, in spite of all efforts to relieve, gradually took his life away. Clarence Obert Hauskey was born in Lake Preston on July 20th, 1898, his parents being Olaus and Rachel Hauskey. Here he grew to manhood and received his education, graduating from the Lake Preston high school in the class of 1917. Soon after his graduation, he accepted a position in the First National Bank of this city, where worked faithfully for about one year. At his country's call, he resigned to volunteer, enlisting in the Students Training Corps at Vermillion. He returned upon receiving his discharge and resumed his work in the same bank, but soon after accepted the position of bookkeeper and assistant cashier of the Esmond State Bank, where he was faithful and efficient in his work up to the time of being taken sick. Clarence leaves to mourn his early death his father, O. R. Hauskey, one sister, Alpha, and two brothers, Helmer R. and Walter, all of whom live at old home in Lake Preston except Helmer who in business at Carthage. His mother passed away on April 18th , 1911. Clarence Hauskey was a fine young man, of good habits and clean cut in every way. Quiet, well behaving, good natured, and the word that fully explains his life is faithfulness. Whatever he undertook he gave his best efforts without shirking, and those with whom he was employed say he could always be depended upon. He was just getting started in life and had a bright prospect of reaching positions of honor and trust and his early departure is mourned by all acquaintances.
