Mickelsen were held at the First Baptist Church in Dannebrog on Saturday, May 24, 1969 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. George Craig officiating. Mrs. Ronald Jackson, soloist, sang "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. Lars Jacobsen, organist. Pallbearers were Sam Vogt, Lawrence Johnson, Edward Hansen, Emil Obermiller, Earl Miller and Lars Jacobsen. Interment was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were conducted by Jacobsen Mortuary of Dannebrog. Clarence Sophus Mickelsen, son of Jacob and Metta Mickelsen was born March 2, 1899 near Dannebrog. He died on Wednesday, May 21, 1969 at his home in Dannebrog at the age of 70 years. Clarence was educated and grew to manhood in the Dannebrog area. On August 21, 1926 he was united in marriage to Anna B. Knott at Grand Island. The couple farmed in the Dannebrog area until 1947 when they moved into Dannebrog. He was employed by his step-son Lyle Knott in the Knott Auction Co. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Anna of Dannebrog; three daughters, Mrs. Arlene Wagner of Denver, Mrs. Doris Butler of St. Paul, and Alice Mickelsen of Denver; a step-daughter, Mrs. Lillian Thompson of Dannebrog; two sons, Gaylord of Grand Island, Howard of Palmer, a stepson Lyle Knott of Grand Island a foster son, Marvin Hansen in the Navy at Albany, Georgia; a sister, Mrs. Sethena Scarborough of St. Paul, 2 half-sisters, Mrs. Mildred Gustafson and Mrs. Mabel Skinner both of Grand Island and a step-sister Mrs. Marie Thienel of Grand Island; three brothers, Julius of Genoa, Holly of Loomis and John of Tampa, Florida; two half-brothers, Albert Madsen of Dannebrog and Lawrence Madsen of Portland, Oregon; 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a son, Clarence Jr., 2 brothers, Martin and Harry and 3 sisters, Ada, Anna and Camilla.
