Mickelsen, Sr. of Dannebrog was born in Dannebrog on Jan 12, 1929. He attended several grade schools near Dannebrog and was a student of the Dannebrog high school. He became ill about the first of April and entered St. Francis hospital in Grand Island, May 2. Two weeks later, having undergone surgery twice, he was transferred to the University hospital in Omaha, where he underwent several more operations. He passed away at Omaha at 5:30 PM Sunday, July 16 being at the time of his death 21 years, 6 months and 4 days of age. He leaves to mourn his death his devoted parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mickelsen, three brothers, Lyle Knott of Grand Island, Howard and Gaylord Mickelsen of Dannebrog, four sisters, Lillian (Mrs. Sidney Leak) of Doniphan, Doris, (Mrs. Adolph Jensen) of St. Paul; and Arlene and Alice Mickelsen, Dannebrog. Also surviving are two nephews and a niece, Lyle, Roger and Sharon Leak, and many other relatives and friends. Clarence was a very friendly and industrious young man a capable helper to his father in his business and a loving son and brother in the home. He was a firm believer in that which was right and good, a patient sufferer through his long illness and a true friend to all who knew him. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 2PM at the Dannebrog Baptist church, with the Rev. Esther Sorensen officiating. Mesdames Elmer Christensen and L. M. Petersen sang, accompanied by Mrs. L. A. Jacobsen. Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery. Jacobsen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. CARD OF THANKS We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all those who gave us comfort and assistance during the illness and after the death of our beloved son, Clarence. Especially do we thank the doctors and nurses, J. P. Jacobsen & Son, the Pallbearers, minister Esther Sorensen, choir, all of our relatives and friends for the many kind deeds, cards, gifts and flowers sent. Your kindness will always be remembered.
