Description	:	Md 7 Dec 1934 Parent of Marcia Ann & Muriel Jean Claude was born at home and attended Cass No. 4 and later Tipton High School and graduated in 1927. He then attended Cayne Electrical School in Chicago. He served as a Corporal in the Citizen Military Training. He worked for Forrest Rhoads for several years. He and Dorothy were married in 1934 and bought a farm two miles north of Cedar Bluffs where they remained for over 50 years before moving to Tipton. He then attended Cayne Electrical School in Chicago. He served as a Corporal in the Citizen Military Training. He worked for Forrest Rhoads for several years. He and Dorothy were married in 1934 and bought a farm two miles north of Cedar Bluffs where they remained for over 50 years before moving to Tipton. Their two daughters were raised there and later their grandchildren: Randy, Todd and Trisha, spent many great times on the farm with them. They both were involved in their grandkids activities. Claude was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Tipton, Farm Bureau, Cedar County Historical Society and in earlier years was a past trustee of the Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsville and Coon Creek Church. He loved gardening, all aspects of farming and helping Dorothy with her many crafts. He enjoyed his motorcycle, snowmobile and horseback riding. Claude was the oldest of six boys and who all have stayed and farmed in the area. Claude died in the Mechanicsville Nursing & Rehab Center from complications of age. He was 99 years, 4 months, 2 days old. Services were held at the First United Church of Christ in Tipton with Rev. David Lorenzen officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Dodds, Richard Mitchell, Marvin Albaugh, David Tripp, Don Bohr, M. Jeanie Bothel. Honorary Casket Bearers were Randy Schutterle, Todd Bothel, Trisha Almond. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldo and Bertha Mitchell, wife Dorothy Mitchell, brothers Harold, Guy, Homer, Ernest, Elmer and son-in-law John N. Crapo.
