He died on September 6, 1980, in Geneva at the age of 78 years, one month and 6 days. He was one of three children in his family. Read More	Claude Preston McDonald was born to Ira and Jeannie Warthen McDonald on July 31, 1902, at Strang in Fillmore County. He died on September 6, 1980, in Geneva at the age of 78 years, one month and 6 days. He was one of three children in his family. Claude or "Stub" as he was known, graduated from Geneva high school in 1922. He resided on farms in the Geneva and Fairmont areas until his retirement. On May 6, 1926, he was united in marriage to Lucy Kness of Fairmont. To this union one child, Pearl, was born. Since retirement, Stub and Lucy have enjoyed the past 22 winters in McAllen, Texas. Stub was a member of the Hesparian Lodge No. 42, I.O.O.F. of Fairmont. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, O.E. McDonald. He is survived by his wife, Lucy of Fairmont; his daughter, Pearl Jacobsen and her husband, Jack of Delia, Kas.; his sister, Audra Meyers of Geneva; his sister-in-law, Anna McDonald of Geneva; two nieces and two nephews; his grandchildren, Dale Jacobsen of Delia, Kas., and Bonita Jacobsen Stum of Rossville, Kas.; four great-grandchildren, for whom he had a very special love: Randy, Shane and Chad Jacobsen and Micky Van Pelt. Funeral services were held in the Fairmont Community Church at 2 p.m. on September 9, 1980, with Rev. Jay Vetter officiating. Organist was Mrs. Marvin Swartz, vocalists were Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hall. Pallbearers were John Anderson, Bill Jacobsen, Floyd Jacobsen, Francis Jacobsen, Ralph Keil and Kenneth Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Hall, Clyde Jacobsen, Everett Nichols, Russ Snodgrass, Francis Schepers and Carl Plock. Burial was in the Fairmont Cemetery.
