McDonald was born January 21, 1901, at Geneva, Neb., to Ira and Jennie (Warthen) McDonald, and died May 2, 1978, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 77. Read More	McDONALD, ORVAL E.—Orval E. McDonald was born January 21, 1901, at Geneva, Neb., to Ira and Jennie (Warthen) McDonald, and died May 2, 1978, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 77. His entire life was spent in Fillmore county where he attended school at Strang and Geneva high school. In 1929, he went into his own business, the McDonald Transfer. In 1940, a partnership was formed with Leslie McPeck, establishing the Geneva Wholesale Produce Co. In October of 1947, he purchased the Thrifty Drug store which he operated until May of 1949. March, 1951, to October 1963, he owned and operated the McDonald Service Station in Geneva. Orval was a charter member of the Geneva Lions club and a past city councilman. During his retirement years he was a city policeman and police dispatcher, until illness forced his complete retirement. One of the legacies he left was the forming of a baseball team for Geneva, having been a faithful coach and confidante to many young men of the community. He was instrumental in the formation of the cornhusker Baseball league. He was united in marriage to Anna Wright, June 29, 1919. To this union was born two sons and two daughters, Jerald Deane, Audrey May, Colleen Carmen and William Eugene. Those preceding him in death were his parents, his sons, Deane and Bill, and infant daughter, Audrey Mae. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Anna; daughter Colleen, and son-in-law, Wallace Brown of Lincoln; daughter-in-law Madeline Wilson of Rawson, O., nine grandchildren, ; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Audra Myers of Geneva; one brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Lucy McDonald of Fairmont, nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son funeral home at Geneva at 10 a.m., Friday, May 5, with Father Walter Banach officiating. Mrs. Clarence Najmon sang “In the Garden” and “How Great Thou Art,” accompanied by Mrs. Norval Lomax. Pallbearers were Tommy Brown, David D. McDonald, Vorus Myers, John Evans, Jerald W. McDonald and James Nichols. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 11 May 1978 page 5.
