Description	:	McDONALD, JOHN IRA IRA--John Ira McDonald, son of Lemual and Nancy McDonald, was born March 19, 1868 in Taylor county, Iowa. At an early age, he with his family moved to Nebraska and located in Fillmore county, where he has lived most of his life. July 19, 1891, he was united in marriage at Ohiowa, Neb., to Miss Jennie Warthen, and to this union was born three children, two sons and one daughter. Read More	McDONALD, JOHN IRA IRA--John Ira McDonald, son of Lemual and Nancy McDonald, was born March 19, 1868 in Taylor county, Iowa. At an early age, he with his family moved to Nebraska and located in Fillmore county, where he has lived most of his life. July 19, 1891, he was united in marriage at Ohiowa, Neb., to Miss Jennie Warthen, and to this union was born three children, two sons and one daughter. Mr. McDonald was of the pioneer stock and with his industrious nature and civic concern, helped to develop the earlier life of this new country to which he had come. He spoke with great satisfaction of his work in helping to lay out the railroads in this county which were to bring transportation and convenience to the country. He engaged in farming as his field of labor. In 1939 it was realized that his health and strength were failing and so the family moved to Geneva, where they have since resided. Since their locating here, Mr. McDonald's health continued to fail and the final summons came Monday, November 8, 1948, at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 20 days. He leaves besides his companion of more than fifty-seven years, the daughter, Mrs. Audra Myers of Geneva, the sons, Orval of Geneva and Claude of Fairmont, six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Nellie Rose of North Platte, other relatives and many friends. Two brothers and three sisters precede him in death. The funeral was held from the Hurbesky-Farmer mortuary chapel Wednesday, November 10, and was in the charge of Rev. Maude V. Mann. The ministry of music was by Mrs. Oscar Nelson, and Miss Mann singing the hymns, accompanied by Miss Lucille Miller. The pallbearers were the six grandsons. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
