She was born Feb. 16, 1913 at Uniontown, Kansas, the daughter of Eyrl and Leola Swink Keith. She was the oldest of nine children. She attended school at Uniontown and graduated from Uniontown High School. She attended Kansas State Teachers College earning a teaching certificate. She was born Feb. 16, 1913 at Uniontown, Kansas, the daughter of Eyrl and Leola Swink Keith. She was the oldest of nine children. She attended school at Uniontown and graduated from Uniontown High School. She attended Kansas State Teachers College earning a teaching certificate. She began teaching in a one-room schoolhouse near Uniontown at the age of 18. On May 13, 1937, she was united in marriage to Paul S. Gill at the Methodist Church of Uniontown, Kansas. He preceded her in death in September 11, 2003. Mrs. Gill was a homemaker. Membership was held in the First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg, taught Sunday School Class, was an active Girl Scout Leader and volunteer for 44 years, member of the United Methodist Women, the Crawford County Republican Women, and served on the precinct election board. She and her husband, Paul, were foster parents, members of a number of Bridge Clubs, Pittsburg Garden Club, and avid gardeners. Survivors include a son, Bill Gill of Pittsburg; two daughters, Sherrill Lundquest of Lindale, TX and Patt Sharpe of Wichita; two brothers, James Keith of Houston and Chester Keith of Terra Haute, Indiana; two sisters, Leah Swanger of Mountain Home, Mo. and Marjorie Ogborn of Pineville, N.C.; Eight grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, John and Ben Keith; two sisters, Dottie Payne and Edith Keith, and a grandson, Adam Paul Gill. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Garden of Memories Cemetery with Rev. Thomas D. Sims officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Brenner Mortuary Chapel where friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg.
