He came here Feb. 1,1865, He was married to Christina Bahnsen, who was born in 1860 and she is from Flemburg, Germany. They were married on March 20, 1884. She had come from Germany in 1883. To this union was born 4 children. HENRY WAS BORN; Dec. 13,1883 HANS WAS BORN; May 16, 1890 MARIE WAS BORN: May 30, 1887 AND ONE CHILD DIED. KNUTH Many were the hearts that were made sad Friday morning, when the news was spread of the passing away of Claus Knuth, one of Stratford's prominent farmers. Although he had been ailing with stomach trouble since last winter, none expected that his case was serious. Deceased was born in Frederau, Germany in 1838 and came to this country at the age of 27 years, arriving at New York February 1, 1865. He was united in marriage to Miss Christina Bahnsen March 20, 1884. To this union were born two sons and one daughter, one son having preceded the father to the better land. Deceased passed away Thursday, July 11th, at eleven o'clock a.m. at the age of 69 years. He leaves his wife, two children, one step son, two brothers and two sisters, one of whom is still in Germany, and a host of friends to mourn his departure. Funeral services were held Sunday at the residence, conducted by Rev. C.G. Bengtson and the remains were laid to rest in the Olson cemetery, where he will not be disturbed from the cares of this world, awaiting the Great day when all the world shall give up its dead.
