Wiese, who has been a resident of Manson since 1892, died at his home in east Manson Thursday and the funeral services were held Sunday at St. Paul's American Lutheran church with the Rev. W. E. F. Meier in charge. Mr. Wiese was born in Hanover, Germany, 87 years ago. He came to the United States and the family settled near Benson, Ill. F. Meier in charge. Mr. Wiese was born in Hanover, Germany, 87 years ago. He came to the United States and the family settled near Benson, Ill. He was married there in 1883 to Miss Altja Antje Gommels and in 1892 they came to Manson where he purchased a half section of land and started farming. Mr. Wiese was the first of the Wiese-Ricklefs-Gommels families to come to Iowa. After he had been here a short time other members of the family came. Mr. Wiese is survived by his wife and four children, one daughter, Mrs. Andrew Imm, and three sons. The sons are John D. Wiese of Fort Dodge, Jake P. Wiese of Manson and William Wiese of Blue Earth, Minn. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery north of Manson. Fort Dodge Messenger & Chronicle September 15, 1940
