Description	:	Mrs. Clementine E. Griffith was born at Princeton, Illinois, August 15, 1852 and died at Omaha, December 3, 1940, at the age of 88 years. Her parents were Charles H. and Harriet Knox. She was married to Wm. E. Griffith at Humbolt, Kanas, January 2, 1875 and moved to Indiana, Iowa in that same year. Two years later they came to Adams County and lived in Corning until 1901 when they came to Nodaway and resided here until the death of Mr. Griffith in 1922. Griffith was born at Princeton, Illinois, August 15, 1852 and died at Omaha, December 3, 1940, at the age of 88 years. Her parents were Charles H. and Harriet Knox. She was married to Wm. E. Griffith at Humbolt, Kanas, January 2, 1875 and moved to Indiana, Iowa in that same year. Two years later they came to Adams County and lived in Corning until 1901 when they came to Nodaway and resided here until the death of Mr. Griffith in 1922. Since that time Mrs. Griffith had lived in the homes of her daughters, Mrs. Effie Murphy of Des Moines and Mrs. Mabel Stockman of Omaha. She became a Christian in her youth and when they moved to Nodaway she united with the Presbyterian Church. Two of Mr. Griffith’s children have died, Charles Hugh in infancy and Harry H. in 1930 in Council Bluffs. Her surviving children are James A. Griffith of Nodaway, Mrs. Effie M. Murphy of Des Moines, and Mrs. Mabel Stockman of Omaha. Her brother, R. S. Knox lives in Butler, Missouri. She leaves seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The memorial services were held in the Presbyterian Church of Nodaway with Rev. Forest A. Helzer preaching the sermon. The singers were Leon Rider, Mrs. Floyd Neil, Mrs. Harold Everett, and Lloyd Means with Mrs. Stohbean at the piano, and Mrs. Thystrop of Omaha sang a solo. The interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery. Pall bearers were John Strain, Ben Baker, George Ross, Charles Kohl, Charles Watts, and E. E. Cramer. Villisca Review, Thursday, December 12, 1940, page 10
