Description	:	James Austin Griffith, son of William and Clementine Eunice Knox Griffin, was born June 10, 1988 at Mt. Etna, Iowa and died May 17, 1956 at home in Nodaway. His work during his lifetime was with the railroad. On July 28, 1901 he was united in marriage to Lulu Thompson at Nodaway and to this union six children were born, one of whom Frances preceded him in death. Surviving are three daughters, Clementine McGreedy of Fallbrook, California, Mrs. Elanor Connelly of Greenfield, Iowa, Mrs. Helen Stalder of Corning. Seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Griffith was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services for James Austin Griffith were held Sunday, May 20, from the Presbyterian Church in Nodaway conducted by the Rev. Alvin D. Sigafus, assisted by Rev. Don Gilbert. Singing at the funeral was by Wayne Smith accompanied by Mrs. Martin Taylor and in charge of flowers were LaVern Ridnour, Joyce Pond and Ruth Vogel. Casket bearers were Otto Heard, Ed McMorrman, Floyd Agnew, Elvin Nash, Duane Pond, and Wm. Loper with interment in the Nodaway Cemetery. Villisca Review, Thursday, May 24, 1956, page 8
