Description	:	Funeral services for Cletus M. Werner, 68, Creighton were held April 26, 1990 at 10 a.m. at St. Ludger Catholic Church with celebrants, Msgr. Cyril Werner and Father John Rizzo. Burial was in St. Ludger Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Post 1151. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased. He passed away at the Plainview Public Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born December 9, 1921 in Antelope County, the son of Frank and Margarete (Reicks) Werner. He attended St. Ludger Academy at Creighton. On September 3, 1941 he entered the Army Infantry as a member of a special trained crew. He was captured during duty and held prisoner by Germany for five months until liberated by allied troops in 1945. He received two Purple Hearts while serving. On June 9, 1947 he married Wilfarene K. Tyler at Creighton. They farmed all their married life until moving to Creighton in 1978, where he was employed by the Knox County road crew. He was a member of St. Ludger Church and a lilfe member of VFW Post 1151 of Creighton. Survivors include his wife; two sons and two daughters, Jim and wife, Pam of Norfolk; Mrs. Richard (Cathie) Fleming of Norfolk; Mrs. Frank (Beth) Flesner of Meadown Grove and Dick and wife, Doris of Norfolk; 13 grandchildren; one brother, Msgr. Cyril Werner of St. Helena; two sisters, Lucille Brady of Hartington and Rosalie Jensen of Omaha.
