Read More	Cliff King was born on a farm in Taylor County on March 10, 1915 to Ross King and Mary Caroline Kendrick. He passed away, Sunday, October 7, 2001 in the Good Samaritan Care Center in Villisca, Montgomery County, Iowa, at the age of 96 years, 6 months, and 27 days. Cliff had one sister, Wilma and four brothers, Wilber, Cleave, Delmar, and Delbert. Cliff attended country school and helped his dad and brother with chores and farming. As a teenager, Cliff had to undergo back surgery in Iowa City and had a long convalescence. During this time he taught himself to play the fiddle and became quite an accomplished musician. Because of his back surgery, Cliff was unable to enlist in the military service for World War 2. He stayed at home and continued to farm and played his fiddle with other musicians at barn dances around the neighboring country side. It was at one of these dances that he met the girl who would later become his wife, Neva Nelson. Neva and Cliff were married at Maryville, Missouri, on March 11, 1942. Cliff and Neva set up housekeeping and farming southeast of Villisca. Their first son, Gary waas born on January 18, 1943, and son Terry Joined the family on May 7, 1944. Daughter Cheryl completed their family, being born on August 10, 1959. Cliff and Neva bought and moved to a farm ten miles north of Villisca. Cliff farmed at this location until his retirement in 1975, except for a two year period when the family moved to Prescott and Cliff worked at Joe Johnston’s Phillips 66 gas station and drove the school bus for the Prescott School system. He also worked part time at the Junction Oil Gas Station at Tenville in his later years on the farm.
