Description	:	Clifford Allen "Mick" Thrasher SHELBYVILLE, Mo. -- Clifford "Mick" Thrasher, 85, of the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, Ill., formerly of Shelbyville, died at 3:55 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 25, 2011), in the home. Mick was born Oct. 25, 1925, a son of the late Steve and Myrtle Sebree Thrasher of Clarence. He married Madeline "Pat" Gibson on Oct. 2, 1948. She survives. Read More	Clifford Allen "Mick" Thrasher SHELBYVILLE, Mo. -- Clifford "Mick" Thrasher, 85, of the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, Ill., formerly of Shelbyville, died at 3:55 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 25, 2011), in the home. Mick was born Oct. 25, 1925, a son of the late Steve and Myrtle Sebree Thrasher of Clarence. He married Madeline "Pat" Gibson on Oct. 2, 1948. She survives. Mick served in the armed forces during World War II. He was severely wounded in the Battle of the Bulge in 1945 and left for dead. Someone noticed a heartbeat and he lived another 66 years. He was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a lifelong mechanic and a friend to all in Shelbyville until his retirement. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Bethel. Survivors in addition to his wife include one brother, Frank and his wife, Mary, of Clarence; two sons, Kent and his wife, Betty, of Shelbyville, and Clifford Jr. of Rock Island, Ill.; a daughter, Sharon Thrasher of Rock Island; four grandchildren, Cari French and her husband, Dan, of Quincy, Chad and his wife, Janice, of Phoenix, Ariz., Brenda Twisdale and her husband of the state of Virginia, and Bill Suggs and his wife, Tommy, of Rock Island; seven great-grandchildren, Nick, Lindsey, Cory, Cody, Blane, Katie and Alan; two stepgrandchildren, Ashley and Daniel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Zella Cockrum, May Wells, Lena Robinson and Ruby Smith; and two brothers, Lester and Arthur. SERVICES: 1 p.m. Friday in Bethel United Methodist Church with full military honors. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery in Shelbyville. VISITATION: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbyville. MEMORIALS: Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy and Bethel United Methodist Church.
