Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Nancy Allen of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Clifford was born January 18, 1910, in Anthon, Iowa, the son of Aaron and Cora (Pierce) Coon. He was raised in the Anthon area and attended school there. He moved to Sioux City in 1942. He married Lucille Larson on February 14, 1959, in Sioux City. she died January 24, 2005, in Sioux City. He worked odd jobs for awhile, then worked for Woodbury County for two years. He then started driving truck for Oxidant Seed and Feed and Woods Transfer, driving for more than 28 years. He retired from driving and mowed lawns for hire until 2002. He used to pick corn for a dollar a day and was a hand-pick corn champion. He loved square dancing and other types of dancing in the Anthon, Hornick and Correctionville, Iowa, area. He also enjoyed boating and camping, turning an old school bus into a camper. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He is survived by a stepdaughter, Louise and Jerry Wehde of Omaha; two stepsons, Robert Simmons of Green Valley, Ariz., and Larry Simmon of Springfield, Mo.; eight great-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and special friends, Gary and Mary Kay Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Cathy Shagbolt; three brothers, Artie, Fritz and John; and three sisters, Lela, Ada and Lucille.
