Description	:	Mass of the Christian Burial for Clifford Cook will be held on Thursday, November 17th, 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wall Lake. Burial will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Cook, age 85, of Wall Lake, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2005, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. Clifford was born on December 7, 1919, in Odebolt, Iowa, the sixth born of twelve children to Floyd and Carrie (Simon) Cook. He attended country school though the eighth grade. He was baptized and confirmed in the catholic faith and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wall Lake. On November 14, 1941, Clifford was inducted into the U.S. Army serving his country from 1941 through 1945. He was a tank driver for General Patton during WWII, and sub machine gun expert, earning the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded three Bronze Stars for Rhineland-Germany, Ardenes, and Central Europe Campaigns, the Purple Heart January 2, 1945, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon and Overseas Bar. On September 2, 1942, Clifford was united in marriage to Anita Ann Freml at Camp Polk, Louisiana. They were blessed with three sons: Russell, Eugene, and Cletus, and two daughters: Bonnie and Donna Rae. After his discharge he worked for the Chevrolet Garage in Wall Lake for five years, farmed by Vail, Denison, and Wall Lake, and then worked for Sac County Maintenance Department as Road Patrol Operator, retiring in 1987 when they moved into Wall Lake. He loved to fish and hunt, work on woodworking projects, and go dancing. Survivors include his wife, Anita; sons: Russell Cook of Wall Lake, Eugene (Linda) Cook of Canton, OH, Cletus (Jane) Cook of Carroll, IA; daughter Donna Rae (Tim) Solt of Fayetteville, NC; five grandchildren: Andrea Johnson, Eugene "Pete" Cook, Jr., David Cook, Cory Cook, and Casey Cook; and six great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his brothers: Richard Cook of Wall Lake, and John (Velma) Cook of Sioux City, IA; three sisters: Marian Jenkins of Sac City, Midge "Blanche" Hawks of Sac City, and Betty "Elizabeth" (William) Blum of Wall Lake; sisters-in-law: Marcella Cook of Wall Lake, Marge Harlow of Denison, IA, and Inez Rostermundt of Manilla, IA; brother-in-law Wesley Freml of Denison, IA; and many extended family members and friends. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Bonnie Ann Luvaas, grandson Cletus Lyle Cook, Jr.; brothers: Mike, Harry, Roy and Bob; and sisters: Flossie Biesch and Bernidine Kelly.
