Description	:	Funeral services for Robert F. Cook, 75, of Wall Lake were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 1999, at Lakes United Methodist Church in Lake View. The Rev. Donald Gibson officiated. Mr. Cook passed away January 1, 1999, in Wickenburg, Ariz. Music was by organist Vicki Hogancamp and soloist Glen Determann. Elaine Mott and Florence Groth were in charge of floral arrangements. Military Graveside Rites were by the American Legion Chalon Post No. 262 of Wall Lake and the V.F.W. Post No. 590 of Sac City. Robert Floyd Cook was born in Odebolt on August 18, 1923, the son of Floyd and Caroline Simon Cook. He was baptized in the Catholic faith. He attended country school through the eighth grade and went on to attend the Odebolt High School. He farmed with his father until he entered the service during World War II. After four years in the Army, he was a self-employed business man, owning and operating several businesses until his retirement in 1975. One of his businesses was the John Deere Implement Company in Wall Lake, which he operated for 19 years - 1959 to 1977. He married Wanda Masteller on January 2, 1946, at the Catholic rectory in Wall Lake. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, hunting, fishing, bird watching, baseball and football. He also helped the late Msgr. J.E. Tolan establish the Babe Ruth League and he coached for a few years. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 590 in Sac City and a member of the American Legion Chalon Post No. 262. Survivors include his wife, Wanda; 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Bruce and Sandra Cook of Des Moines, Scott and Diane Cook of Auburn and Jerry and Karen Cook of Des Moines; 4 grandchildren: Nicole, Traci, Matthew and Jody; 4 brothers: Lawrence "Mike", Clifford and Richard "Dick", all of Wall Lake, and John of Sioux City; and three sisters: Maria Jenkins of Sac City, Elizabeth "Betty" Blum of Wall Lake and Blanche "Midge" Hawks of Sac City. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Harry and Roy; and 2 sisters, Bernadyne Kelly and Flossie Beisch.
