Description	:	Clifford was born in Nebraska, perhaps in Sheridan Co. on January 31, 1909. There were many Coon families in the area and it is assumed they were all related. On Oct. 6, 1933 Clifford was married in Chadron, NE to May Townsend, daughter of Charlie and Nellie Williams Townsend. She was a local girl born in the same area as Clifford to homesteaders. Read More	Clifford was born in Nebraska, perhaps in Sheridan Co. on January 31, 1909. There were many Coon families in the area and it is assumed they were all related. On Oct. 6, 1933 Clifford was married in Chadron, NE to May Townsend, daughter of Charlie and Nellie Williams Townsend. She was a local girl born in the same area as Clifford to homesteaders. The young couple had four children, all born in White Clay, NE; Rita May 1934, Merle Roy 1935, Charles Wayne 1937 and Alma Charlene 1940. Sometime after the birth of their children, Clifford took the family and moved to California, where's May's brother John had found gainful employment several years before. Clifford and May raised the children there and were both living in San Leandro when they died. Clifford was a member of the International Assoc. of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 1546 of Oakland. He was a past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles San Leandro Aerie 2129 and Eagles Aerie 1375 of East Oakland. Clifford and May were members of the Bethel Presbyterian Church. At the time of his passing, May was still living in San Leandro, son Merle was living in Washington, Charles was living in Nevada. His daughters, Rita Coon Comerate was in Grass Valley, CA and Alma Dobias living in Minnesota. He had 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was also survived by siblings; Nora Coon Stewart of CO., Emily Coon Young of Santa Rosa, CA, and W. James Coon of Lucerne, CA.
