Babcock, 69, a longtime resident of the Creighton community, who passed away at his home Saturday, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Marvin Ritterling, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Babcock recently held a farm sale in preparation to moving into Creighton and retiring. He suffered a heart attack Jan. 9 and never recovered. He had been in failing health for a number of years. Clifton George Babcock was born at Rockwell City, Ia. on May 23, 1890, the oldest of four children of Walter S. and Bertha Babcock. In 1906 he moved with his parents to Wall, S.D. On Nov. 7, 1917 he was united in marriage to Lorna Iauch of Creighton. Three children were born to them. In 1918 the young couple moved to a farm south of Creighton. A year later they moved to a farm six miles north of Creighton, where he resided until his death. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church on March 29, 1931. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Surviving are his wife, Lorna; two sons, Charles of Creighton and George of Winnetoon; a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Alene) Fischer of Niobrara; five grandchildren and a sister, Irma Bortle of Rapid City, S.D.
