Description	:	AUGUSTA - Clinton W. Cunningham Jr., 88, of the Tasker Road, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016 at the Alfond Center for Health. He was born in Chelsea on Feb. 17, 1928, the son of Clinton and Thressa (Sidelinger) Cunningham. Clinton attended Cony High School. He had worked at the Togus VA for three years prior to working at the Augusta Mental Health Institute. Cunningham Jr., 88, of the Tasker Road, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016 at the Alfond Center for Health. He was born in Chelsea on Feb. 17, 1928, the son of Clinton and Thressa (Sidelinger) Cunningham. Clinton attended Cony High School. He had worked at the Togus VA for three years prior to working at the Augusta Mental Health Institute. He retired as Supervisor in 1977 after 29 years of service.Clinton loved to buy cars, repair them and resell them as a hobby. He also enjoyed camping, traveling (especially to Tennessee) and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Christian Life Fellowship Church in Chelsea, Chelsea Good Will Circle Hall, Chelsea Senior Citizens and the Capitol Area Wheels "Good Sam" Camping Club. Clinton loved dogs, especially the many German Shepherds that he raised and owned over the years. He was predeceased by his first wife of 42 years, Romayne I. (Cooper) Cunningham in 1990, two brothers Kenneth and Lloyd Cunningham, and two sisters, Virginia Allen and Arline Trytek. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Cunningham of Augusta; two sons, Clinton "Bill" Cunningham and his wife Diane of Windsor and Robert Cunningham and his wife Sylvia of Chelsea, two daughters, Bonnie Bell and her husband Billy of Augusta and Beryl Morrissette and her husband Tony of Augusta, a stepson Ronald Peaslee and his wife Rhonda of Windsor, three stepdaughters, Judy Eugley and her husband Ray of Windsor, Jessica Gunning and her husband Mark of Old Towne, and Julie Ferguson and her husband Mike of Rangeley; a sister Frances Quintal of West Gardiner; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; deven step grandchildren; 1 step great-great-granddaughter; nieces, nephews, cousins; and his faithful companion, his dog Louie. Burial will occur in Resthaven Cemetery in the spring.
