On April 21, 1926, he married Blanche Bass at Webster City. He farmed in the Stratford area until his retirement in the late 1960s. He attended the Baptist Church in Stratford, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, on son, two grandchildren, eight brothers and one sister. Survivors include five sons, Dean of Dayton, Milford of Newton, Dale of Des Moines, and Lenard and Jerry, both of Stratford; seven daughters; Louise Churchwood of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Laraine Corey of Coupeville, Washington, Velma Wood of Livermore, Charlotte Neal of Des Moines, Jane HIckle of Boone, Esther Santi of Deerfield, Florida and Pam Heun of Columbia, Missouri, 35 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren.
