Description	:	Clyde McFarlin, 76, widely known attorney, businessman, and school man, died at his Montezuma home early Thursday morning, June 30, after a stroke. The son of William and Margaret Osborn McFarlin, he was born on March 21, 1890, in Sugar Creek township near Searsboro. He attended rural school and graduated from Searsboro High School in 1906. After graduating from Grinnell College in 1911 he became a teacher in the rural schools and then served as superintendent of schools at Clermont and West Bend. Read More	Clyde McFarlin, 76, widely known attorney, businessman, and school man, died at his Montezuma home early Thursday morning, June 30, after a stroke. The son of William and Margaret Osborn McFarlin, he was born on March 21, 1890, in Sugar Creek township near Searsboro. He attended rural school and graduated from Searsboro High School in 1906. After graduating from Grinnell College in 1911 he became a teacher in the rural schools and then served as superintendent of schools at Clermont and West Bend. After his marriage to the former Mary Ingram on April 16, 1910, Mr. McFarlin entered Drake University and received his law degree in 1914. He was president of the Montezuma Mutual Telephone Company and a past president of the Iowa Independent Telephone Association. He currently was serving on the association's board of directors. Mr. McFarlin was chairman of the board of the Montezuma State Bank. Survivors include his widow, Mary; two sons, William F. of Des Moines, and Norman of Falls Church, Va.; three daughters, Mrs. John Bierman of Grinnell, Mrs. John Beckner of Arlington, Va., and Mrs. Fred Goreham of Des Moines; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John Kovar of Missouri Valley, and Mrs. Marjorie Putman of California; and one brother, Marvin of Davenport. Interment was in Stewart Cemetery near New Sharon.
