She passed away on Wednesday afternoon, January 8, 2014 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 19 days. Colleen grew up in the Essex area and graduated from Essex High School in 1951. On August 18, 1951, she was united in marriage to Charles Frederick Samuelson in Vallejo, California. This union was blessed with two children, Joey and Shari. Colleen was a hard worker. She was a waitress, owned a restaurant and ice cream shop in Essex and also worked for the Essex Locker, JC Penney and Jay Drug. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Essex, the American Legion Auxiliary and had been a Boy Scout Leader. She enjoyed horses, cooking, camping at the State Fair and was a mean checker player. She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws; a brother, Ossie Sederburg; a nephew, Darren Sederburg and a niece, Deonne Archer. Survivors include her husband, Fred Samuelson of Essex, Iowa; her children, Joey Samuelson and his wife Amy of Essex, Iowa, Shari Bradfield and her husband Chris of Essex, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Katy King and her husband Kevin of Essex, Iowa, Jessica Niskin and her husband Oren Eli of Homestead, Florida, Charlie Bradfield and his wife Kat of Shenandoah, Iowa, Clinton Bradfield of New Haven, Conneticut, Colby Bradfield of Omaha, Nebraska; 8 great grandchildren, Alexandria, Riley, Benjamin and Landry King, Cecelia Niskin, Drake, Asher and Arabella Bradfield; 2 brothers, Gene Sederburg of Essex, Iowa, John Sederburg of St. Charles, Missouri; 2 sisters, Judy Johnson and her husband Doug of Bethesda, Iowa, Joyce Kruse and her husband Merrill of Shenandoah, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Duane (Ossie) Sederburg of Kansas City, Missouri; brother-in-law Bob Samuelson and his wife Jacky of Clarinda, Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
