Read More	Connie McClain Fowler September 10, 1944 - November 25, 2014 Anderson, SC Connie McClain Fowler, 70, of 224 Ansel Fowler Drive, wife of John W. (Billy) Fowler, died Monday, November 25, 2014 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born September 10, 1944 in Anderson, she was the daughter of Fleet McClain, Jr. and the late Alein McCoy McClain. She was a graduate of Hanna High School, Winthrop University, Anderson University and Clemson University, where she received her MA in Education. She retired from Starr Elementary after teaching third grade for 24 years. Her love of children was evident through her continued service in the Good News Club ministry at Starr Elementary each week. She was a dedicated member of Starr Baptist Church where she served as WMU Director, Church clerk, Seekers Sunday School Class teacher, choir member, Good News Club leader and Twinkle City member. Connie was always quick to volunteer in others areas of service as well. She cherished her family and took joy in capturing special memories through photo albums. She is survived by her husband, Billy, of 50 years, two daughters, Jean Walker and her husband David, of North Charleston and Carol Williams and her husband, Bruce of Rock Hill and son, John Fleetwood Fowler and his wife, Stacey of Starr. She was known as "Nonnie" to her 10 grandchildren, Maggie, Benjamin, Holly, and Lily Walker, Brent, Colby and Blake Williams and Jayden, Jenna and Jesse Fowler. She is also survived by her father, Fleet McClain, Jr. and her beloved sisters, Laura Lipe of Pisgah Forest, NC, Becky Parris of Isle of Palms and Cynthia Simpson of Anderson. She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Ruth Bruton McClain. Funeral service will be held at 10am Saturday at Starr Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Howell officiating. Burial will follow at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 until 8pm at Sullivan-King Mortuary, 3205 Hwy 81 N. The family is at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Starr Baptist Church, 115 Stone Throw Ave., Starr, SC 29684.
