Description	:	Isaac Fleetwood McClain, Jr. July 9, 1920 - April 24, 2018 Anderson, SC Isaac Fleetwood McClain, Jr. passed away peacefully on April 24, 2018, at the age of 97, after a serious fall. He was born on July 9, 1920, in Anderson County and was the son of the late I. Fleet McClain, Sr. and Mattie Laura Creamer McClain. Read More	Isaac Fleetwood McClain, Jr. July 9, 1920 - April 24, 2018 Anderson, SC Isaac Fleetwood McClain, Jr. passed away peacefully on April 24, 2018, at the age of 97, after a serious fall. He was born on July 9, 1920, in Anderson County and was the son of the late I. Fleet McClain, Sr. and Mattie Laura Creamer McClain. He graduated from Anderson Boys High School in 1939 and attended Clemson University until enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong resident of the Centerville community. He helped organize Centerville Fire Department and the West Anderson Water Company. He was a lifelong farmer and cattleman, a substitute mail carrier for six years, and worked 18 years with the USDA Soil Conservation Service, retiring in 1983. He was a lifetime member of New Prospect Baptist Church, serving in many capacities including serving as a Deacon, a member of the John McLees Sunday school class, and president of the Prospectors for 13 years. He served in WW II in the 94th Infantry Division in the European Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of the Hudgens American Legion Post #14, a Mason, and a member of the SC Forestry Commission. He was twice married, first to the former Alein McCoy, who preceded him in death in 1981. His second wife, Ruth Bruton, died in 2011. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Fowler and husband, Billy. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Buris Schumpert, one brother, Edwin McClain, and two infant siblings. He is survived by three loving daughters, Laura Lipe and husband, Frank of Pisgah Forest, NC, Becky Parris of Isle of Palms, SC, and Cynthia Simpson and husband, Monte of Anderson; eight grandchildren, Jean Fowler Walker (David), Carol Fowler Williams (Bruce), John Fleetwood Fowler (Stacey), Nathan Patrick McKee (Bonnie), Leigh Nalley Rampey (Danny), Joshua Craig Nalley, Derek Ryan Simpson, and Warren Blake Simpson (Carrie); and seventeen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a step-daughter, Karen Bruton. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at New Prospect Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tom Turner. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:15 p.m. Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Prospect Baptist Church, 2503 Whitehall Road, Anderson, SC 29625.
