Read More	The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, March 12, 1942 Cora An (sic) Hosking was born in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, November 17, 1864, and died at her home in Nelson, Nebraska, on March 6, 1942, at the age of 78 years 3 months and 17 days, after a lingering illnes (sic) extending over four and one-half years. She was the youngest of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death. On November 18, 1885, she was married to George W. Jackson at Elizabeth, Ill. To this union were born five children, three of whom died in infancy. In the year 1885 she and her husband moved to Gage County, Nebr., ad (sic) lived on a farm near Cortland, Nebr. Seven years later they moved to Nuckolls County where they lived eleven years on a farm near Cadams, Nebr., one year in Superior, and twenty-one years in Nelson. In 1925 Mr. and Mrs. Jackson moved to Lincoln where Mr. Jackson served as Secretary of the State Fair Boarad (sic) for thirteen years. In 1936 they returned tothe (sic) old home in Nelson, where they have since resided. In 1935 thy (sic) celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a reception for their many friends. Mrs. Jackson was a member of the Methodist Church in Nelson and was a willing and faithful worker as long as her health permitted. She was a loving, sweet character, kind to everyone and appreciative of any kindnesses shown her. She suffered her last illness witht (sic) patience and endurance, sitting day after day in her chair by the window until her tired heart laid down its burden. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, a son Earl, of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Fred Kelly, Nora, Nebr.; and six grandchildren, Earl, Jr. and George Jackson of Dallas, Texas; Gwen, Donna, Charlotte and Fred Kelly of Nora. Other relatives, including a niece and grand niece, Mrs. John Cubbon, and Mrs. George Thayer of Nora, Nebr. The funeral services were held from the First Methodist Church in Nelson at 2:30 p.m., March 9, Rev. A.J. Rich in charge. Rev. C.M. Foust read the obituary, and Rev. W. Byrd Ray read the twenty-thtird (sic) Psalm, and lead in Prayer. Rev. Rich spoke on the "Light For fhe (sic) Valley" from the 23rd Psalm. A picked choir of singers, members of Mr. Jackson's former choir, sang the selected hymns: I Love to Tell the Story, Old Rugged Cross, Beautiful Isle of Somewhere, and a special number, Rose of Sharon, with Orin L. Goodrich of Hastings as soloist. The singers were the following: O.L. Goodrich, E.E. Hedgcock (Edgaar (sic)), Joe Ferebee, Mrs. E.E. Hedgcock, Mrs. W.L. Portwood, Mrs. Arbor Ferebee, Mrs. Jas. F. Murphy, Mrs. Joe Ferebee, Mrs. J.L. Scroggin (Oak), Mrs. Ross Clem, J.E. Portwood, and F.A. Scherzinger, with Mrs. H.H. Hite at the piano. Interment was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic). The pallbearers were: Walter Hanthor, George Kern, Lawrence Smith, Curtis Smith, William Day, Leslie Swigart. IN APPRECIATION We take this way of expressing our appreciation to all those who assisted us during the long illness and death of our dear wife and mother. To the many neighbors and friends who came so faithfully to cheer her during the years she was shut in, to the ministers who officiated at the funeral, to the old friends of the choir who rendered the beautiful music, to the pallbearers who were neighbor boys of her early married life, and for the lovely floral offerings, we especially express our appreciation and thanks.
