Description	:	Cora Bell was born in the High Hill community, north of Slater, Missouri, on October 18, 1896, the daughter of James Robert and Marietta Garrett "Sissy" Dulaney. On January 13, 1918, at her parents home in the High Hill area, she married Samuel Nelson Copeland (Sam passed away December 28, 1955). Reverend N. E. McCoy officiated and the brothers of the bride and groom, Warren Dulaney and Charles Copeland were witnesses. Cora Bell and Sam had no children of their own. Read More	Cora Bell was born in the High Hill community, north of Slater, Missouri, on October 18, 1896, the daughter of James Robert and Marietta Garrett "Sissy" Dulaney. On January 13, 1918, at her parents home in the High Hill area, she married Samuel Nelson Copeland (Sam passed away December 28, 1955). Reverend N. E. McCoy officiated and the brothers of the bride and groom, Warren Dulaney and Charles Copeland were witnesses. Cora Bell and Sam had no children of their own. In late February 1920, Cora Bell and Sam agreed to take in the two oldest daughters of Marion Garrett, whose wife, Fannie Narron Garrett, had died on Valentines Day from the flu pandemic. Marion and Cora Bell were first cousins. Hence Audrey Lorene Garrett, nine years old and Nettie Lee Garrett, six and a half years old came to live with them. Both girls, but especially Nettie maintained a close relationship with their 'mama' the remainder of Cora Bell's life. This relationship caused her to be a grandmother and great grandmother to Nettie's children and grandchildren. Sam and Cora Bell lived on a farm two miles north of High Hill. Sam retired from farming in the early 1950's, and they moved to Slater. After Sam died, Cora Bell bought a smaller house which was left to Nettie when she died, December 28, 1969. Yes, Sam and Cora Bell died on the same calendar day fourteen years apart.
